Biography

Cheryl Haughton obtained a BS in Biochemistry at Michigan State University, then completed her veterinary degree at Ohio State University.  She returned to Michigan for 2 years to work in small animal medicine private practice.  Following this, Cheryl completed specialty training in laboratory animal medicine at Emory University.  She attained American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine Diplomate status in 2001.  She has been employed at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center – Dallas for 8 years, and University of Kentucky for the past 12 1/2 years.  Cheryl has done collaborative research and has publications in laboratory animal medicine journals.  Cheryl has served on many professional organization committees that emphasize awards, mentoring, animal welfare, and continuing education opportunities for colleagues in the field.  Cheryl enjoys yoga and activities of obedience and agility with her irish terriers.  She has excelled in events with her dogs, the dogs are ranked within the top of the breed, and Cheryl has participated with her dogs in top national competition events.
