Sara holds a Master’s degree in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Milan and the University of Copenhagen, where she investigated the role of astrocytic calcium signalling in brain slices using optical and molecular methods.

She then completed her Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Neurotechnology at the Italian Institute of Technology and the University of Genoa, focusing on astrocyte–neuron interactions in the hippocampus during complex behaviors in mice, using advanced optical imaging and chemogenetic approaches.

In 2023, she joined Iconeus to explore new imaging modalities, where her role is now to convince other scientists to try fUS for a different perspective on brain imaging!
