Biography
Jelle de Jong is a doctor currently in training for cardiology, with a particular interest in syncope since his Masters in medicine. He started working on www.syncopedia.org, a website with medical information on transient loss of consciousness aimed at physicians, in 2015, with, among others, Wouter Wieling and Frederik de Lange. The past 10 years he has been conducting research in the syncope unit in the Amsterdam University Medical Centre. During his PhD, and since, he has investigated how diagnoses are made in patients with syncope, and critically appraised diagnostic criteria. Currently, his research is focused on carotid sinus syndrome and using artificial intelligence to make diagnoses using history taking.
