Biography
Dr. Philip Tröster is a Scientist at the Rolf Luft Research Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology within the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery at Karolinska Institutet. He obtained his PhD in Neuroscience from Freie Universität Berlin, conducting his doctoral research at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine, and has more than a decade of experience in advanced cellular and intravital imaging techniques, animal surgery, behavioral analysis, and research using transgenic animal models.
His current research focuses on the development of stable, long-term intracranial imaging platforms in which pancreatic islets are transplanted onto the dura mater beneath a cranial window. This innovative approach enables anesthesia-free imaging in awake mice and allows detailed investigation of calcium (Ca²⁺) dynamics and physiological activity in pancreatic islets that are authentically integrated into the host’s metabolic and vascular systems.
