Biography
There has been a dearth of research on menopausal women, to understand the changes that occur during and after the transition into menopause. Dr. Wen Shen’s efforts to improve the science has been clinically based, as well as educating patients, medical providers and policy makers in the importance of menopause health. The world’s population is aging and women are spending a third of their lives in postmenopause. Providing preventive care and improving medical knowledge for postmenopausal women must be a priority. To that end, her group has performed the first national survey of all ObGyn residents regarding their menopause education. She then developed the Johns Hopkins Menopause Curriculum for our trainees. She also developed The Johns Hopkins Menopause App which is available on smartphones world wide via Apple or Google, in order to facilitate the care of menopausal women everywhere. Dr. Shen is the director for the Johns Hopkins Women’s Wellness and Healthy Aging Program.
